Big Snow Dublin 82

Big Snow 1982

Yes, my father is wearing a skunk on his head…! We were on our way to Dunnes Stores in Kilnamanagh to see what was left. Some harried shop assistants were checking out the last of the stock to the panic buyers. I think the abandoned car in the foreground is the one that… had the famous “HELP!” sign scratched into the snow on its windscreen that appeared in the news.

Waterford Stanley would like to congratulate Mr Willie Walsh from Dublin who won our Big Snow’ 82 competition. The prize was a Tara solid fuel non boiler in enamel plus €500 towards installation. On finding out he had won, Mr Walsh said he was very surprised and delighted.

We would like to thank all involved in the competition and for sharing your wonderful memories and photos with us. If you’d like to see the other entries, or add your own, become a fan of  The Big Snow (January 1982) on Facebook.
